During the first two weeks of operations for the Arkansas Scholarhip Lottery, a total of --- Southwest Arkansas retailers participated in the rollout of more than half-a-million in ticket sales, making some $25,650 in commissions on those sales across the eight-county region.

Those commissions, according to ASL representative Julie Baldridge, represent a five percent payout on each $1 of lottery tickets sold.
“If they sell a $1 ticket, the get a nickel,” Baldridge said. “If that $1 ticket has a $50 prize, they get 50 cents of that.”
While no figures are available broken down by county to show the prize collections by retailers, Baldridge said the one percent prize participation for retailers extends to a maximum prize payout to the ticket holder of $100,000, making the retailer’s share $1,000.
The maximum retailer share on Powerball tickets, which will be sold starting Saturday, is $50,000.
“Last week, there was an $18,888 winner and the store that sold that ticket won $188.88,” Baldridge said.
