Hope All-Stars shine for the west

FAYETTEVILLE – The 2010 East-West Tyson/Arkansas Army National Guard AAA High School Coaches All-Star competition was held at the University of Arkansas Campus in Fayetteville during the week of June 21-25.

 This year marked the 55th anniversary for All-Star sports with the AAA. Stephanie Winfield, Veronica Gonzalez and Claudio Martinez were chosen to the west rosters to represent Hope High School from the Bobcats, Ladycats soccer and softball teams.

The all-star soccer game was Tuesday June 22 at Razorback Field. Gonzalez and Martinez played in the boys and girls all-star games with the East team winning both matchups.
Head coach Rusty Winfield of the Hope Bobcats and Ladycats soccer teams was in attendance to watch both of his players during the games.

According to Winfield, Gonzalez and Martinez both played well and had good representation for Hope. Gonzalez also makes school history for the Ladycats soccer team for being the first girl to be chosen and play in the all-star game.

On Wednesday June 23, Stephanie Winfield represented the Hope Ladycats softball team by playing in the softball all-star game at Bogle Stadium.  The East team would win the double-header 4-3 and 5-4   but, Stephanie scored two runs with a RBI and a single during her all-star debut.

Gonzalez, Martinez and Winfield all are 2010 Hope High School graduates.
