The Blevins junior high Hornets came out victorious against Emerson on Homecoming last Friday night and in the first round of the Lockesburg,DeQueen junior high Winter Invitational basketball tournament.

In hoop action against Emerson, the Hornets won big, 38-29. The Hornets took a big lead at halftime over Emerson, 28-16, then in the second half, Blevins added 10 points to be victorious in junior high boys hoop action.

 In the game, Hornets' Thomas Turner led scoring in double-figures with 17 points and Trevon Reed had 12 points.

On Saturday, Jan. 14 the junior high Hornets defeated Umpire 57-4 in the Lockesburg/DeQueen junior high tournament.

In the game, Hornets Reed led scoring in double-figures with 13 points and Noah Yingst had 12 points.

Tonight, the junior high Hornets will face Mineral Springs in the second round of the tournament with tip-off set for 7:45 in DeQueen.

In earlier tournament play, the Hornets have won the Blevins and Genoa junior high boys invitationals looking to make the              Lockesburg/DeQueen tourney their third title for the 2011-12 basketball season.
