Bobkittens, Ladykittens fall short to Arkadelphia in hoop action

ARKADELPHIA - The Hope Junior High School Bobkittens and Ladykittens basketball teams battled the Arkadelphia Freshman Badgers and Lady Badgers for hoop action Monday night, January 25. This was the second meeting of the two game series with Hope winning the first battle at home on December 7. The Bobkittens and Ladykittens fight hard but Arkadelphia would have the edge on Monday night to take all four victories.

The eighth grade Ladykittens and Bobkittens both fell short to Arkadelphia in their battles.

In ninth grade girls action, the Ladykittens kept the game very close trailing Arkadelphia by four points at halftime, 15-11. In the third, the Ladykittens out-scored Arkadelphia to lead 18-15 at the close of the quarter, but Hope would be edged off in the for by the Lady Badgers to lose a heartbreaker, 28-26.

In the game, Alex Morrison led the Ladykittens scoring seven points, Asia Wesley and Jonleisha Nelson each with six points.

In ninth grade boys action, the Bobkittens would fall behind early in the first half trailing Arkadelphia 19-10 at halftime. In the second half, the Bobkittens begin to come back cutting the deficit to 23-17 at the end of the third. Heading into the fourth the Badgers out-scored the Bobkittens and Arkadelphia would go on to victory, 42-25 to even the two-game series.
