Bears, Lady Bears beat Dierks in hoop action

DIERKS - The Spring Hill Senior and Junior Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams defeated Dierks on the road for 7-2A Conference play Friday night, January 22.

In seventh grade boys action, the Bears fell short 33-12. In the game, Garrett May scored five points for the Bears.

In junior girls action, the Lady Bears defeated Wickes 46-25 and remain undefeated with a 20-0 overall record.

In the game, Lauren Kidd led the Lady Bears scoring in double-figures with 22 points and Jamie Nance had 10 points.
In senior girls action, the Lady Bears fought off the Lady Outlaws for a 42-22 win to sweep the conference series of 2-0.

In the game, the Lady Bears jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter, and out-scored the Lady Outlaws in the second quarter for a 19-7 advantage at halftime. In the third, the Lady Bears kept their momentum to take a 24-19 lead and put up 20 points in the fourth quarter to take the victory over Dierks.

In the game, for the Lady Bears, Norma Aranda led scoring in double-figures with 15 points, Suzie Gresham had nine points, and Kelli Worthey scored eight points. With the win, the Lady Bears are 13-7 overall and 7-2 in conference.

For Dierks, Emily Jackson led scoring in double-figures with 11 points.

In senior boys action, the Bears kept the game close with the Outlaws early with a two point led 6-4 in the first quarter. I the second, the Bears marched their way back out-scoring the Outlaws for a 18-13 lead at halftime. In the third, the Bears increased their lead over the Outlaws for a 29-16 lead at the close of the quarter. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Bears overcame the home crowd advantage and pulled out a 44-29 victory against the Outlaws.

In the game, Jordan Ward led the Bears scoring in double-figures with 14 points, Edward Hurt had 11 points, Kade Ford and Colton Capps each scored seven points a piece. With the win, the Bears are 4-5 in conference with a three-game winning streak.

For Dierks, Caleb Dinger scored in double-figures with 12 points.
