The Hope Ladycats hit the field for some exhibition softball action Saturday January 14 in Longview, Texas.

The Ladycats went to battle in four big exhibition games against tough teams in Longview as they prepare for the upcoming 2012 softball season.

The following are game summaries of the Ladycats battles in Longview.

Ladycats 4, Longview 3
The Ladycats started out their first taste of 2012 softball action defeating Longview 4-3 in three innings. For the game: Ladycats' Chelsee Cornelius had one double, two RBI's; Julia Garcia had one triple; Haylee Lewis had one RBI, pitched three innings, threw 58 pitches and 29 strikes at the pitcher's circle.

Ladycats 0, Van 9
   In the second matchup of the day, the Ladycats would suffer a hard defeat against Van, 9-0 in three innings of softball play.The Ladycats were held scoreless but had three hits and Van recorded nine runs off four hits with one error. For the game: Ladycats' Jami Godwin had one hit, pitched two innings, threw three 43 pitches with 24 strikes for three strikeouts from the pitcher's circle; Taryn Worthey had one hit, Keeva Green had one hit; Racie Poindexter pitched one inning, threw 27 pitches, with 16 strikes and had one strikeouts from the pitcher's circle.

Ladycats 0, TBD 8
   The Ladycats fell short 8-0 against TBD in four innings. Defensively the Ladycats held TBD scoreless in the first inning, then only allowed a run scored in the second and third innings, but TBD sparked in fourth to score six innings for the win.
    The Ladycats would fall short to score or record a hit against a tough TBD team.
   For the game, at the pitcher's circle: Godwin threw 81 pitches, with 59 strikes and had four strikeouts.

Ladycats 3, Elysian Fields 6
  In the final game of the day for the Ladycats, they faced off against Elysian Fields for five innings of intense softball action.
  Ladycats' Cornelius did all she could to give Hope a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Elysian Fields, as they fell short 6-3.
For the game: Godwin scored one run; Poindexter scored on run and had two hits; Cornelius scored one run, had two hits and a RBI; Worthey, Garcia and Lewis each had a hit.From the pitcher's circle: Poindexter threw 58 pitches, had 33 strikes and one strikeout.
