After an impressive victory over the Nevada Blue Jays in the semifinals of the district tournament, Blevins Hornets would take on the No. 4 ranked Stephens Roadrunners in the finals on this past Saturday February 18.
The Hornets put up a big fight staying in scoring distance with Stephens in first half action, but the Roadrunners took control in the second half to defeat Blevins, 88-63.
In the opening quarter, the Hornets would trail early 24 -10 to the Roadrunners.
In the second quarter, the Hornets rallied back to out-score the Roadrunners 23-13 as Blevins cut their deficit to trail only by four points 37-33 at halftime.
In the second half, the Roadrunners would have two big quarters to out-score Blevins, 51-30.
The Hornets poured the points on the scoreboard in second half, but Stephens would be victorious to win the 1A-7 Central boy district tourney and hand Blevins a tough 25 point defeat in the finals.
For the game, Hornets' Montae Gentry led scoring in double-figures with 18 points, Travon Stevenson scored 15 points and Quincy McDaniel had 14 points for double-digit scoring.
For Stephens' Treyus Martin led all scorers in double-figures with 27 points. The Hornets fall to 22-13 overall.
This Thursday, the Hornets will take action in the class 1A regional tournament held in Stephens. The Hornets are set to face Guy Perkins with tip-off set for 5:30 pm in Stephens.
