TAYLOR - The Saratoga senior high Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs split victories on the road against the Taylor Tigers and Lady Tigers last week for class 1A conference basketball action. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Tigers 30-20 and the Bulldogs fell short to the Tigers, 32-31. The Lady Bulldogs are 5-3 in conference, 5-8 overall and the Bulldogs 2-6 in conference play. S
For senior girls action, the Lady Bulldogs trailed Taylor early 5-8 in the first quarter. In the second, the Lady Bulldogs out-scored Taylor 10-0 to take a 15-8 halftime lead. In the third, the Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to 18-10 and heading into the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs out-scored the Lady Tigers 12-10, for a 10 point victory, 30-20.
In the game, Kaneshia Stuart led the Lady Bulldogs with eight points, Audrianna Vaughn had seven points and Kenyatta Green added five points.
For senior boys action, the Bulldogs fell behind early to the Tigers 12-7 at the close of the first quarter. In the second, Taylor out-scored the Bulldogs 12-5 and at halftime, Saratoga trailed the Tigers, 24-12. In the third quarter, the Bulldogs out -scored Taylor, but had a 28-19 deficit at the close of the quarter. In the fourth, the Bulldogs marched their way back to out-score Taylor, 12-4 but Taylor edged off Saratoga, 32-31 for the victory.
In the game, Shaquille Hopkins led scoring for the Bulldogs with 16 points, Terrell Trotter had seven points.
