WYNNE – The Hope Ladycats entered the 2010 5A state softball tournament held in Wynne, on a eight game winning-streak as No. 1 seed. The Ladycats faced their state tournament rivals Nettleton in the first round. The Ladycats would pickup an impressive victory against Nettleton 9-6 and advancing to the second round of the tournament.
This was the first time the Ladycats had advance past the first round in past years. With momentum on their side, the Ladycats battled Vilonia in the second round but suffered a heartbreaking loss 6-5. The Ladycats season and title run would come to an end at the state tournament. The Ladycats ended their season with a 27-3 overall record, and perfect in conference 14-0 to become the 2010 5A Southwest Conference champs. Despite the loss in the state tournament, the Ladycats had several winning streaks and shutout victories.
The Ladycats will lose six competitive seniors of Stephanie Winfield, Sara Bateman, Twila Gaines, Stephanie Randle, Osha Stewart, and Allena White. The Ladycats will look to take command next season with Malloree Butler, Marlee Butler, Shantae Henry and Adriana Rivera stepping up for the senior roles to help lead the team for next year.
