HOPE – Hope freshman Ladycat trackster Asia Wesley is the new Hope High School record holder in the high jump for junior and senior high. Wesley broke the high jump records during the 2010 track season in the senior high and junior high meets.

In the junior high meet, Wesley jumped a 5' 3'' to break Sandra Powell's record, which was held since 1989. Powell held the record with a 5' 2'' jump for 21 years and Wesley broke the record this year.

In the senior high meet, Wesley as a freshman broke the high jump record, jumping a 5' 4''. Yvonne Spellman held this record since 1977, jumping a 5' 2''. Sandra Powell tied Spellman's jump in 1990 in the high jump. This record for senior high girls track and field hasn't been broken for 33 years.

Wesley is the first Hope athlete to break both high jump records for junior high and senior high.
Her name will replace Powell and Spellman in the glass case at Jones Field House Gymnasium, as the new high jump record holder.

Wesley won first place in the high jump at the 5A Southwest junior high district meet in Hot Springs.
She also won first place at the 5A Southwest senior high district meet in Hot Springs Lakeside as a freshman in the high jump.

Wesley's junior high track coaches were Roy Whatley and senior high coach John Stephens.
