The Blevins Hornets and Lady Hornets advanced to the 1A-7 Central district tournament finals on this past weekend held at Blevins high School Gymnasium.

The Lady Hornets picked up a big victory over Stephens in the girls semifinals, 50-36.

The Lady Hornets took a 20-18 lead at halftime, then out-scored the Stephens 30-18 in the second half as Blevins went onto a 14 points win.

 In the game, Lady Hornets' Asia McDaniel led scoring in double-figures with 18 points and hit 10 of 14 free-throws, Shay Thomas scored nine points, Aaliyah Richardson and Ta'Nell Barton each had seven points apiece.

Also Aspen McDaniel had a nice game of rebounding off the glass for the Lady Hornets.The Hornets took care of business picking up a big win over the tough Nevada Blue Jays 65-54 in the boys semifinals.
The Hornets had a slim two point lead 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Hornets out-scored the Blue Jays 15-5 as Blevins led at halftime, 30-18.

In the second half, the Blue Jays out-scored the Hornets 36-35 but Blevins would be victorious for an 11 point victory.

For the game, Hornets' Montae Gentry led all scorers in double-figures with 23 points, D.J. Henagan dropped 15 points and Tank Woodley had 12 points. For Nevada, Desmond Gulley led scoring in double-digits with 18 points.

In the district finals, the Lady Hornets fell to the No. 1 ranked Nevada Lady Jays 60-35 and Hornets would fall to No. 4 ranked Stephens Roadrunners on this past Saturday.

The Blevins Hornets, Lady Hornets and Nevada Blue Jays and Lady Jays will be in regional tournament play beginning this Wednesday-Saturday February 22-25 held in Stephens.
