Bobcats, Ladycats split victories against De Queen

 De Queen – The Hope Bobcats and Ladycats soccer teams split victories against the De Queen Leopards and Lady Leopards Tuesday, February 25 on the road for non-conference soccer action. The Bobcats shutout the Leopards 3-0 to seek redemption from the El Dorado tourney. The Ladycats fought hard but went down in defeat, 1-0. The junior varsity Bobcats fell short to De Queen, 5-2.

In junior varsity boys action, Ismael Aranda scored a goal at the 26:00 mark and Jimmy Newman scored a goal at the 34:00 mark.

In varsity boys action, Stephen Riemar scored a goal at the 7:00 mark, Arturo Sanchez scored at the 55:00 mark and Juan Arroyo.

Head coach Rusty Winfield was very pleased in his teams effort and defensive performances against a good De Queen team.

“In our girls game, we had some good defensive efforts from Magali Morales, Roxana Rodriguez, Kim Loudermilk, Stephanie Winfield and Yanete Gomez. Our freshman goalie Liliana Frayre had an excellent start,” said Winfield.

“The boys offense played well and did an excellent job playing and winning as a team. We had a good defensive effort led by Miguel Pacheco, Daniel Martinez, Eddie Duenas, Eric Garcia and Felipe Arroyo,” said Winfield.

Also Winfield noted the junior varsity Bobcats are building up for the future.
