Lady Bears fall short to Lady Wolves in softball action

 PRESCOTT – The Spring Hill Lady Bears softball team began the 2010 season falling short against the Prescott Lady Wolves 10-5, in seven innings on the road Monday March 8 for non-conference play. Today, the Lady Bears will regroup and return back to softball action in the Horatio tournament to face De Queen at 3:30 p.m.

For game action in Prescott, the Lady Bears had a total of five runs scored off five hits and the Lady Wolves had a total of 10 runs scored off eight hits.

In the first inning, the Lady Bears sparked first scoring two runs to lead Prescott 2-0 through the second inning. In the third, the Lady Bears scored another run, and the Lady Wolves got on the board scoring two runs and Spring Hill maintained their lead at the end of the third inning, 3-2.

In the fourth inning, the Lady Wolves continued to keep their momentum and scored three runs and the Lady Bears would fall short to score. Prescott would lead the Lady Bears 5-3 heading into the fifth inning as both teams were scoreless in the inning. In the sixth inning, the Lady Wolves increased their lead scoring five runs to lead the Lady Bears 10-3. In the seventh, the Lady Bears attempted their come back scoring two runs but the Lady Wolves would hold on to their lead for the victory.

In the game, Lauren Kidd was 3-4 at bat scoring three runs, Haley Bobo was 1-2 at bat with two RBI's, Suzie Gresham pitched six innings with four strikeouts, 1-4 at bat with a single in the top of the fifth inning scoring a run, and Julia Chambless scored a run.
