Hornets fall to Wonderview in class 1A state basketball tournament

 STRAWBERRY – The Blevins Hornets basketball team competed in the class 1A boys state tournament held at Hillcrest High School Gymnasium in Strayberry Wednesday March 3 for first round action. The Hornets faced the Wonderview Dare Devils but would fall short, 64-33. The Hornets would end the season with a 28-11 overall record and winning the 1A-7 Central District championship. The Hornets is coached by Jeffery Steed.

 In game action, the Hornets kept the game close in the first quarter trailing 12-9, but the Daredevils put up 20 points in the second quarter to lead Blevins at halftime, 32-14. In the third, the Hornets fought hard scoring eight points but the Daredevils increased their lead to close the quarter with a 46-22 advantage. In the final quarter, the Hornets scored 11 points but Wonderview went on to victory.

In game action, Jalen Tuner led the Hornets scoring in double-figures with 11 points, Quintin Fields scored nine points, Vance Williamson had five points, Antonio Finlay four points, JaCody Horton and Chris Pine each had two points a piece.
