BLEVINS – Blevins High School head cheerleading coach Kim Cox was selected as an assistant coach of the west cheer staff for the Arkansas Activities Association 2010 All-Star cheerleading team.

Cox will help coach the west all-star cheerleaders this week for the basketball and football all-star games in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas campus, June 24 and 25.

The all-star cheerleaders reported to Fayetteville Wednesday June 23.  The Cheerleaders also will attend all the other all-star activities scheduled during the week. This is the second year she has been the varsity cheerleading coach for Blevins and third year for the junior high school cheer teams.

Cox started out as the Blevins cheerleading coach in 1992-98.  She took some time off and returned back to coaching in 2007.  She has 17 members on the junior high cheer squad and 13 on the varsity team at Blevins.  In December 2009, the Blevins varsity cheer team competed at the state cheer competition which was held at Summit Arena in Hot Springs.

The varsity Lady Hornets cheer squad finished ninth place in coed division from class 1A – 4A. The team had the highest point total for class 1A. This is the first time Cox has been chosen to coach on the all-star staff and feels privileged of this honor.

“It's a great honor. I'm thrilled and looking forward to working with some good coaches and athletes,” said Cox.

At Blevins school, she teaches 11th grade American History, 10th grade World History, 8th grade Social Studies and Arkansas History.
