Wildcats vs. Texarkana
TEXARKANA – The Hope Wildcats American Legion baseball 17 and under team battled the Texarkana Razorbacks Tuesday on the road in double-header action. The Wildcats fell short to the Razorbacks 11-3 and 5-4 in the double- header.In the first game, Hunter Halliday and Davis Wilson pitched three innings a piece. Dillon Clayton had a triple, Wilson was 3-6 at bat with a triple and a double. John Michael Cunningham, Colten Davidson, Ryan Huntze, Ladd Owens, and Drake Barham all had singles. In the second game of the double-header, Huntze pitched three innings and Cunningham closed the game out for the Wildcats at the mound.
Wildcats vs. Malvern
MALVERN - The Wildcats continued baseball action last Sunday, June 27 on the road defeating Malvern in a double-header. In the first battle, the Wildcats 19 and under team defeated Malvern 11-8. Halliday and Huntze pitched at the mound for the Wildcats. The team recorded seven hits against Malvern. Wilson, Zayne Ottwell, Cunningham, Huntze Barham, and Owens all had singles.In the second battle, the Wildcats 17 and under team defeated Malvern 15-2. Dillon Gore and Ottwell blasted homeruns for the Wildcats against Malvern. Cunningham and Wilson pitched at the mound for the Wildcats against Malvern. The team recorded 10 hits against Malvern in their dominating victory.
For game action, Zach Winfield had a single and double, Joseph Ledbetter had two singles, Halliday, Owens, Huntze and Wilson all had singles for the Wildcats.
Wildcats vs. Sheridan
HOPE - On Thursday, June 24 the Wildcats returned home for American Legion action defeating Sheridan in a double-header at Legion Field. The 19 and under Wildcats defeated Sheridan 7-6 in the first battle of the double-header. Taylor Wood pitched five innings and allowed one run. Tyler Biddle and Outtwell also pitched at the mound for the Wildcats. The team recorded 10 hits in the game.
During the action, Biddle homered and was 1-3 at bat. Wilson was 1-3, Brice Berry was 2-3 with a double, Brandon Honea was 1-3, Halliday was 1-2, Wood and Gore both were 2-4 at bat for the Wildcats.
In the second game of the double-header, the Wildcats defeated Sheridan 5-1. The team recorded two hits by Wilson and Gore. Cunningham pitched for the Wildcats with five strike outs, facing 22 batters and allowed one run.
The Wildcats 17 and under team will continue baseball play next week July 5-9 in the American Legion Junior Area Tournament held in Sheridan. The Wildcats are set to face Hot Springs Village at 4 p.m. in first round play. The Wildcats club recorded is currently 10-13 overall.
