Curley Wolves, Lady Wolves dominate Bismarck in conf. hoop action

PRESCOTT - The Prescott High School Curley Wolves and Lady Wolves basketball teams picked up to key victories against the Bismarck Lions and Lady Lions for 7-3A Conference action Tuesday, January 26 on the road for hoop action. The Curley Wolves defeated the Lions 66-61 and the Lady Wolves beat the Lady Lions. The Curley Wolves and Lady Wolves are both undefeated in conference play with a 8-0 record.

Immediately following the Lady Wolves game, a special ceremony was held honoring the 1971 Prescott Lady Wolves state championship team as well as the their coach Melba Hall. This is the only team to win a state championship in Prescott High School history.

Coach Melba Hall also will be inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in July. Prescott will return back to hoop action tonight to face the Gurdon Go-Devils and Lady Go-Devils for conference play.

For game action Tuesday night, in senior boys play, the Curley Wolves and the Lions kept their battle close throughout the entire game.

In the first quarter, the Curley Wolves trailed by one point to the Lions 16-15 at the end of the quarter.

In the second, the Lions extended their lead out-scoring the Curley Wolves 13-10 and Prescott trailed Bismarck by four points, 29-25.

In the third quarter, the Curley Wolves built some momentum and fought their way back to out-score the Lions 22-12 and retain a six point lead at the end of the third, 47-41.

In the fourth, the Curley Wolves and Lions kept the game intense and close, but Prescott out-scored Bismarck 19-17 for a five point victory, 66-61 on the road.

In the game, Devonte Fricks led scoring in double-figures with 18 points and London Cole had 13 points. With the win, the Curley Wolves are 8-2 overall.
