Bears dominate Curley Wolves in baseball action

PRESCOTT – The Spring Hill Bears baseball team returned back to action Monday March 8 on the road facing the Prescott Curley Wolves for non-conference play. The Bears would defeat the Curley Wolves 13-4 in seven innings to pickup their first win of the season. With the victory, the Bears improve to 1-1 on the season and will face Genoa in the first round of the Horatio tournament the Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

For game action, the Bears had a total of 13 runs off seven hits and the Curley Wolves had a total of four runs off four hits and three errors. In the first inning, the Bears led the Curley Wolves 2-1.

In the second inning, the Bears increased their lead scoring a run to led Prescott 3-1. Heading into the third inning, the Bears and the Curley Wolves were scoreless. In the fourth inning, the Bears made a big spark scoring six runs keeping the Curley Wolves scoreless and Spring Hill led Prescott 9-1 to close the inning.

In the fifth inning, the Curley Wolves scored three runs trailing the Bears 9-4. In the sixth inning, both teams were scoreless and in the seventh inning the Bears finished off the Curley Wolves scoring four runs and Prescott fell short of scoring for a come back. Spring Hill went on to victory against Prescott.

In the game, Kade Ford was 2-3 at bat with a double, three RBI's, scoring a run and hit a homerun. Kevin Aaron scored two runs hitting a homerun, Ladd Owens scored three runs hitting a homerun. Cole Turner scored two runs, Drake Barham, Dylan Knox, Hendrix Routon, Carter Yocom, and Bryan Whipkey all scored runs.

Ford pitched three innings with two strikeouts, Zach Winfield pitched, and Whipkey pitched three innings giving up no runs.
