ARKADELPHIA – The Spring Hill Bears baseball team took action on the road Thursday, March 4 against the Arkadelphia Badgers for non-conference play. The Bears played the Badgers tough but fell short in five innings, 10-0.
In game action Thursday, March 4 in the top of the first inning, Ladd Owens and Cole Turner went out on their attempts at bat, and Zach Winfield flied out to second. In the bottom of the first, the Badgers recorded one run with Kade Ford having two strike outs for the Bears at the pitcher's mound. At the end of the first inning, Arkadelphia led the Bears, 1-0.
In the top of the second, Ford and Carter Yocom went our on their attempts at bat, Dylan Knox singled and Kevin Aaron went out on his attempt at bat. In the bottom of the second, Winfield relieved Ford at the pitchers mound and the Badgers were held scoreless. At the end of the second, Arkadelphia led the Bears 1-0.
In the top of the third inning, Drake Barham walked, Hendrix Routon grounded out to first base, Owens walked to first and Barham moved to second base. Turner singled with bases loaded. Winfield and Ford both went out on their attempts at bat. In the bottom of the third, the Badgers found another spark and recorded two runs. At the end of the third, Arkadelphia led the Bears, 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Yocom, Knox, and Aaron all went out on their attempts at bat. In the bottom of the fourth, Owens relieved Winfield at the pitcher's mound with one strike out, but the Badgers recorded three runs increasing their lead to 6-0 at the end of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning, Barham and Routon went out on their attempts at bat, with Owens grounding out to the pitcher. In the bottom of the fifth, Kevin Aaron relieved Owens at the pitcher's mound. The Badgers would find another spark scoring four runs and went on to defeat the Bears.
