Bears, Lady Bears beat Foreman in conference hoops

SPRING HILL - The Spring Hill Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams were victorious against the Foreman Gators and Lady Gators Tuesday night for 7-2A conference play at home. The junior Lady Bears started out the action with a 40-15 win against Foreman and remain undefeated improving to 19-0 overall and 4-0 in conference. The senior Lady Bears defeated the Lady Gators 44-39 and the Bears pulled out a 13 point victory against the Gators, 53-40.

In junior high girls action, the Lady Bears dominated the entire game. In the first half, the Lady Bears led 24-5, then kept the intensity to have a 37-8 third quarter advantage. In the fourth, the Lady Bears finished off Foreman for a 25 point victory.

In the game, Lauren Kidd led scoring in double-figures with 16 points, Haley Bobo had eight points, and Madison Kidd added five points. For Foreman, Samantha Henderson led scoring with eight points and Jaquela Haywood had six points.

In senior girls action, the Lady Bears trailed early in the first quarter, but regrouped to take a 14-9 lead at the close of the opening quarter. Kelli Worthey scored five points, Norma Aranda had three points, Suzie Gresham, Marissa Aranda, and Karleigh Creech all scored baskets in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears increased their lead with Gresham nailing seven points, Kaylee Fincher scoring a basket and Creech hitting 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. At halftime, the Lady Bears led the Lady Gators, 26-21.

In the third, the Lady Gators kept the game close out-scoring the Lady Bears 10-8 with Spring Hill leading at the close of the third, 34-31.

In the fourth, the Lady Bears pushed their intensity level to edge off the Lady Gators for a four point victory, 44-39 in conference play.
In the game, Gresham led scoring in double-figures with 17 points, Norma Aranda and Worthey each had seven points, Creech six points and Marissa Aranda chipped in five points. With the win the Lady Bears improve to 12-6 overall and 6-2 in conference.

In senior boys action, the Bears controlled the tempo and led the entire game. In the first quarter, the Gators struck first to lead the Bears 2-0.

The Bears took the lead at the 5:22 mark with a three point play by Jordan Ward making the score, 5-4. The Gators and the Bears kept going back and fourth of scoring with Spring Hill taking a 16-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Kade Ford made a basket, Kevin Aaron scored four points hitting 2 of 2 free-throws as well as Cody Aaron.

In the fourth quarter, the Bears would maintain control to keep their lead over the Gators. Cody Aaron had five points, Colton Capps contributed with a basket and Ford finished off the Gators with a basket at the buzzer. Spring Hill would defeat Foreman, 53-40 winning their third conference game and second consecutive victory during conference play.

In the game, Ward led the Bears scoring in double-figures with 20 points having 17 points in the first half and Cody Aaron had 15 points.
