The Blevins Hornets and Lady  Hornets went back to action for 1A-7 Central Conference play hosting the Nevada Blues and the No. 2 ranked Lady Jays for their second meeting of the conference season this past Friday, Jan. 20.

In senior high girls action, the Lady Jays and the Lady Hornets had a close showdown in the opening quarter being knotted at 14-14 heading into the second quarter.

The Lady Jays out-scored the Lady Hornets 18-10 in the second period as Nevada led Blevins, 32-24 at halftime.

 In the second half, the Lady Jays out-scored the Lady Hornets, 33-24 as Nevada went on to a 65-48 win over Blevins.

In the game, Lady Hornets' Shay Thomas led scoring in double-figures with 16 points, Tiffany Williamson had nine points, Ta'Nell Barton added nine points and Asia McDaniel scored six points.
For Nevada, Brianna Mullins was the player of the night scoring an impressive 37 points to lead the Lady Jays to victory.

The Lady Hornets fall to 13-12 overall, 4-2 in conference. For Nevada, they improve to 26-1 and undefeated in conference as the No. 2 ranked team in state for class 1A.

In senior high boys play, the Hornets seek revenge against a tough Blue Jay team as Blevins pulled out a 58-51 conference win over Nevada in overtime.

The Hornets trailed early to Nevada at halftime, 23-21. In the second half, the Hornets out-scored Nevada 26-24 as Blevins and the Blue Jays were tied 47-47 at the end of regulation to set up a exciting overtime period.

In overtime, the  Hornets feed off the home crowd to out-score Nevada 11-4, as Blevins went on to a seven point win over the Blue Jays.

For the game, Hornets' Tank Woodley led scoring in double-figures with 16 points, Travon Stevenson had 12 points and hit 6 of 6 free-throws and Montae Gentry scored 10 points.

For Nevada, Diante Mixon led scoring in double-figures with 18 points for the Blue Jays.

Tonight, the Hornets and Lady Hornets return back for action hosting E Stem with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. at BHS Gymnasium.

The Nevada Blue Jays and the No. 2 ranked Lady Jays is scheduled to play Sparkman on the road with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. in Sparkman for 1A-7 Central conference hoops play.
