Hope High School golfers' Natalie Phillips, Emily Miller and Ben Knight made their season debut of golf competition Aug. 2 against Arkadelphia, Mena, Nashville and Malvern for an 18-hole match at DeGray Lake Golf Course.

Hope High School golfers' Natalie Phillips, Emily Miller and Ben Knight made their season debut of golf competition Aug. 2 against Arkadelphia, Mena, Nashville and Malvern for an 18-hole match at DeGray Lake Golf Course. 

As individual performers, Phillips and Miller both competed in varsity girls competition. Phillips shot 94 and medalist runner-up with the second highest score. Miller finished the evening shooting 125. Nashville Lady Scrapperettes won the girls match with a team winning score of 314.

Nashville's Ellen Spigner was medalist shooting 78 for the top individual score in the girls match.

Arkadelphia Lady Badgers finished second with a team score of 354. Lady Badgers' Miranda Raney shot 98 for the third highest individual score, Kinley Green shot 129 and Rebecca Thomas shot 132. Malvern Lady Leopards finished third with a team score of 368. Malvern's Abby Loe shot 116, Maddie Taylor and Hannah Carey each shot 126.

In varsity boys golf competition, Knight shot 121 for the Bobcats. The Mena Bearcats finished first overall with a winning team score of 248. Daniel Davis of Mena was medalist with the boys overall top score of 74. Austin Johnson shot 81, Camden Broderson shot 93 and Jack Hunter shot 114.

Nashville Scrappers finished second with a team scored of 267. Ethan Gunter and Thatcher Furr both shot 85 and Hunter Serano shot 97.

The Arkadelphia Badgers finished third overall with a team score of 298. Payton Edington shot 91, Matt Green shot 100, Austin Edington shot 107. Malvern Leopards finished fourth with a team score of 312. Andrew Edwards shot 100, Braxton Allen and Maleki Asher both shot 106, Cole Carey shot 127 and Noah Beane shot 131.

Next Tuesday Aug. 14, HHS golfers are scheduled for home match competition hosting De Queen and Nashville at the Hope Country Club. Tee time set for 3:30 p.m.
