Southwest Arkansas returned to the big stage on the diamond in Conway to compete in the 2018 USSSA Arkansas All-Star State Baseball Championships over the weekend June 23-24.

Southwest Arkansas returned to the big stage on the diamond in Conway to compete in the 2018 USSSA Arkansas All-Star State Baseball Championships over the weekend June 23-24. 

League all-star teams from the Hope Baseball Softball Association competed strong and productively in the 12U, 10U and 8U all-star state tournament divisions to represent Hope and Southwest Arkansas.

This year, five teams from Southwest Arkansas represented in the 2018 Arkansas All-Star State Baseball Championships in Conway against numerous elite youth baseball teams in the enter state of Arkansas.

In the 12U division state tournament, the SWA All-Stars of Hope under head coach Wes Pierce and staff finished third place overall for at the state tournament. The 12U division consisted of 16 teams of all-stars from Alma, Cabot, Dewitt, Fayetteville Purple Dawgs, Greenbrier, Greenwood, Lake Hamilton, Monticello, Nashville, Ozark, Sheridan, Star City, Van Buren, Warren and Wynne.

In the 10U division, there will be two SWA All-Star teams represented to compete from Hope led by head coaches Tal Rhodes and Jordan Drake and their staff. 10U SWA All-Stars went 3-1 finished fifth place overall. The 10U Hope All-Stars went 2-2 and finished 10th overall. The 10U division state tournament featured 20 all-star teams from Alma, Conway, Dewitt, Fayetteville, Greenbrier, Greenwood, Hampton, Lake Hamilton, Monticello, Ozark, Nashville, Sheridan, Star City, Van Buren, Vilonia, Warren, Wynne and Maumelle. 

For the 8U division, there were two teams representing SWA and Hope with head coaches Paul Wilson and Cody Wall and staff guiding their squads in tourney play. The 8U SWA All-Stars went 3-1 and finished seventh place overall. The 8U Hope All-Stars competed hard, but fell short of victory to finish 0-3 in close defeats for 28th overall. The 8U state tourney features 28 all-star teams to compete with the most teams of competition of all divisions in the tournament. Teams competing were represented from Alma, Bryant, Cabot, Conway, Dewitt, Fayetteville, Greenwood, Hampton, Heber Springs, Little Rock, Lake Hamilton, Maumelle, Mt. Ida, Nashville, Sheridan, Star City, Van Buren, Warren, Farmington, Monticello and Wynne.

Throughout the heated temperatures in the previously weeks, HBSA league all-star teams practiced on a variety of skills to help them be productive as a team against tough competition in Conway. 

For another consecutive year, their production showcased successful finishes for wins throughout the tournament for a good representation from Southwest Arkansas and Hope during their run competing at the 2018 state tourney this weekend.
