This Saturday June 16, the All Arkansas Preps 2017-18 Awards Banquet will be honoring over 300 athletes from the Natural State and Hope Bobcats' Chris Torres was selected to the All Arkansas Soccer Boys Team as one of the honorees invited to be apart of the occasion.

This Saturday June 16, the All Arkansas Preps 2017-18 Awards Banquet will be honoring over 300 athletes from the Natural State and Hope Bobcats' Chris Torres was selected to the All Arkansas Soccer Boys Team as one of the honorees invited to be apart of the occasion. Torres was named to the All-Arkansas Freshman/Sophomore Soccer Team for 2017-18. He will be amongst several members from all sports chosen to first, second or sophomore teams to be present as featured athletes of the year.

The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Wally Allen Ballroom in the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

Out of each sport, a male and female athlete will be selected to receive the honor of Outstanding Player of the Year. In addition, an Overall Male Athlete, Overall Female Athlete and Coach of the Year will be chosen and honored at the event. The All Arkansas Preps event, which is also sponsored by First Security Bank, Arkansas Select Buick GMC Dealers and SportsClips will be a first-class experience for the 1,200 who attend. 

The event will feature a keynote speaker to address all athletes of their accomplishments and the passionate purpose to compete as an productive athlete. This year's keynote speaker will be former Legendary Track & Field Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee. She is considerably one of the most decorated female athletes of all-time, dominating the track and field circuit for 16 years and won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals spanning four Olympic Games during her illustrious career. 

All Arkansas Preps celebrates high school athletes from across the state and their achievements in 12 sports (basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, soccer, football, tennis, golf, volleyball, wrestling and swimming/diving. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s All Arkansas Preps male and female athlete and coach of the year will be announced at a banquet honoring high school athletes and their accomplishments this weekend in Little Rock. 

This past 2018 soccer season, Torres as a freshman helped the Bobcats to a 11-9 overall. Throughout the season, the Bobcats earned several key wins to post a plus .500 overall record. The Bobcats also finished the 5A South Conference Tournament third to enter the 2018 Class 5A State Boys Soccer Tournament the No. 3 seed from the South. Torres earned All-Conference honors for this past soccer season.

The 2017-18 All Arkansas Prep Freshman/Sophomore Soccer Team consist of - Matthieu Barbazanges of Bauxite; Isaias Garcia of Joe T. Robinson; Jackson Harrod of Heber Springs; Ricky Iturriaga of Fort Smith Northside; Rilee Jones of Harrison; Matthew Riley of Sylvan Hills; Jaime Rodriguez of Beebe; Chris Torres of Hope; Nathan Tyler of Valley View; Jorge Vargas of Jonesboro; and Grant Viscardis of Hot Springs Lakeside. 

The 2017-18 Outstanding Soccer Player of the Year is Daniel Mondragon of Warren.
