The 61st annual Meet of Champs at Wolf Stadium at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy was held Saturday and Blevins High School track star Jasmine Batson competed for the first time as a representing Class 2A.

The 61st annual Meet of Champs at Wolf Stadium at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy was held Saturday and Blevins High School track star Jasmine Batson competed for the first time as a representing Class 2A. Batson competed in the girls 100 meter hurdles and finished with a time of 20.79. 

Batson competed against a mixture of all state champions in their classifications from 1A-7A representing schools such as Greenland, Rogers, Parkview, Conway, Bentonville, Decatur, Russellville. Fayetteville, El Dorado, Pea Ridge, Maumelle, Bryant, Monticello and Vilonia.

Batson placed first to win the 100 meter hurdles at the 2A State Girls Track Championships in Mineral Springs. She placed first with a winning time of 17.59 to reign as the newly crown state champion in the 100 meter hurdles for 2018.

Batson has been a state qualifier all throughout her high school career in track and field and achieved the high point award in several meets along the district track championships.

At Meet of Champions, Claire Luallen of Maumelle won the 100 meter hurdles with a winning time of 14.77, Georgia Brain of Rogers placed second at 15.38 and Blakelee Winn of Pea Ridge finished third at 15.59.
