Once again, the Hope Bobcats and Ladycats will be making their arrival back to Harrison for postseason competition at the 2018 Class 5A State Boys and Girls Soccer Tournaments.

Once again, the Hope Bobcats and Ladycats will be making their arrival back to Harrison for postseason competition at the 2018 Class 5A State Boys and Girls Soccer Tournaments.

The Bobcats and Ladycats both finished strong to qualify to compete at state during the 5A South Conference Tournament last week.

The Ladycats prevailed over Hot Springs Lady Trojans 2-0 in the first round at district that officially clinched them a spot into the state tournament. After falling in the semifinals to De Queen, but secured a 4-2 victory over White Hall to earn the No. 3 seed at state. 

The Ladycats have progressed their way strong from beginning the season in losses for the first four games. The Ladycats ended their defeat streak winning over Hot Springs which they swept the conference series match-up in league play and tying against Nashville to build confidence going into tourney play. 

Now with a win to have momentum heading into the state tourney, the Ladycats will face No. 2 seed Maumelle in the opening round in the 5A State Girls Soccer Tournament on Thursday May 10 at 2 p.m. in Harrison.

For the Bobcats, they're also heading into the state soccer tournament as the No. 3 seed from the South Conference. The Bobcats will square off against No. 3 seed Morrilton in first round play at state on Thursday May 10 at 4 p.m. in Harrison.

The Bobcats have competed productively throughout the season win several key wins to post a plus .500 overall record at 10-8 thus far. The Cats defeated Gurdon in earlier season tourney play, along Nashville, Class 6A El Dorado, Lake Hamilton and Arkansas High twice to sweep their 5A/6A Conference league play this season.

The Cats had tough losses to Hot Springs, De Queen and Hot Springs Lakeside during conference play in close defeats, but the Bobcats bounced back strong in the conference tournament to prevail over White Hall in the first round to qualify to compete at state. Despite falling to De Queen in the semifinals, the Bobcats seek redemption over Lakeside for a shutout victory to earn the No. 3 seed going into the state boys soccer tourney in Harrison. 

The last state finals appearance for Hope was 2010 with the Bobcats making their first ever trip to the state championship game in Fayetteville. It's been eight years since competing in the finals and Hope aims for a return trip in 2018 for both girls and boys teams to make noise at state. 

Head coach Zac Hoglund looks forward to both the Bobcats and Ladycats competing strong for their representation in the postseason. Hoglund has been pleased by the hard fought battles of effort Hope displayed during the season and in the conference tournament to qualify for state to be contenders.

Assistant coaches Josh Marshall, Austin May and Edmundo Dominguez has been onboard the entire season and aim for the Hope to make strong runs in tournament competition at state for 2018.

The state tournament is scheduled May 10-12 with the finals next week May 18-19 in Fayetteville on the University of Arkansas campus at Razorback Field.
