Officially a dynasty, now for Garrett Memorial Christian School Lady Saints softball team after capturing their third consecutive state championship Tuesday evening in the 2018 AACS State Softball Tournament hosted in Magnolia.

Officially a dynasty, now for Garrett Memorial Christian School Lady Saints softball team after capturing their third consecutive state championship Tuesday evening in the 2018 AACS State Softball Tournament hosted in Magnolia.

The Lady Saints prevailed over Christian Ministries Academy 16-1 in the semifinals to advance back to to the championship game defeating school rivals' Columbia Christian 14-4 to 3-peat as state champions for 2018.

Once again, the Lady Saints completed another perfect season unbeaten on the diamond to successfully defend their state title with productive dominance to continue making history for in their softball program.

For 2018 seasonal accolades, earning All-State honors were Raley Sullivan, Whitley Richards, Courtney Rook and Morgan Hooker. Raley Sullivan earned MVP of the AACS State Tournament and Richards was honored as Player of the Year.

Semifinals

LADY SAINTS 16, CMA 1

In the semifinals of the AACS State Softball Tournament, the defending state champs GMCS Lady Saints had no problem securing victory with a productive display of defense to defeat Christian Ministries Academy 16-1 in four innings of softball action. The Lady Saints sparked quick to a 14-0 lead through the second inning. CMA managed their lone run of the game in the third inning, but the Lady Saints put the contest away posting two runs in the fourth to prevail for the 15-run victory on 11 hits and allowing CMA one run on one hit with an error.

For the game, Raley Sullivan had one hit with an RBI and scored a run. Gabby Chandler had one hit with two RBI's and one run scored, Richards had two hits including a home run, two RBI's and scored two runs. Malia Key scored a run, Rook had two hits, one RBI and scored two runs, Clarissa Bailey scored a run, Ayden Sunburg had one hit, one RBI, Mallory Faulkner had one hit and scored a run. Ashlyn Hart drove in one run for an RBI and scored a run, Kennedy Hamilton scored a run, Katie Beth Alexander had a hit, one RBI and a scored run, Anna Kate Childress had one RBI, Shelby Pogue had an RBI and scored a run, Anna Beth Martin had a hit, two RBI's and scored a run and Rayleigh Hart had an RBI and scored a run.

At the pitcher's circle, Hamilton earned the win allowing no runs, hits, walks and struck out two batters and threw 11 strikes pitching one inning. Rook pitched one inning allowing no hits, runs and struck out one batter and threw nine strikes. Chandler pitched two innings, allowed only one hit, one run, two walks and struck out two batters and threw 16 strikes.

Championship Game

LADY SAINTS 14, COLUMBIA CHRISTIAN 4

For another rematch duel of last year's state finals game, the Lady Saints went head to head against their school rivals' Columbia Christian Crusaders in the championship game of the AACS State Softball Tournament. Columbia Christian looked for revenge, but deja vu struck again as the Lady Saints successfully won 14-4 for the 10-run victory in five innings to repeat as the champions.

The Lady Saints maintained a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Columbia Christian rallied back for three runs scored in the second, but the Lady Saints sparked for four runs scored to regain the lead 6-3 going into the third inning. Columbia Christian was allowed one more run scored in the third, but the Lady Saints championship experience soared them through with four runs scored in the inning, then two more in the fourth and fifth innings to secure victory. The Lady Saints posted 14 runs on nine hits and no errors with Columbia Christian managing four runs on seven hit snd five errors.

For the game, Cally Sullivan had a hit, one RBI and scored three runs. Raley Sullivan had two hit with three RBI's and two runs, Richards had one hit, Hooker scored a run, Faulkner scored a run, Rook had a hit and scored two runs, Hamilton had two hits with two RBI's and scored two runs. Childress had a hit with an RBI and scored two runs and Alexander had a hit with an RBI and scored a run for offensive contributions.

In the pitcher's circle, Raley Sullivan earned the win pitching 2.2 innings, allowed six hits, four run, two walks and struck out two batters and threw 31 strikes. Richards pitched 2.1 innings, allowed one hit, no runs, two walks and struck out two batters and threw 25 strikes to get the save.
