The Hope Bobcats came up short of victory on the road to finish out their conference series play and first round bout at the 5A South Conference Baseball Tournament falling to Hot Springs Lakeside.

The Hope Bobcats came up short of victory on the road to finish out their conference series play and first round bout at the 5A South Conference Baseball Tournament falling to Hot Springs Lakeside.

On this past Monday evening, the Cats opened conference tournament play to the Rams and would fall 16-0 which knocked them out of tourney competition to end their hard fought season on the diamond for 2018.

On last Thursday evening, the Cats ended their league series play falling to Lakeside 19-4.

The Cats had a 16-0 deficit through third inning, before posting their first run of the game in the fourth inning. Lakeside sparked for three more runs scored in the fourth, but the Cats gave a hard fought effort to rally back in the fifth with three runs scored. In the end, Lakeside prevailed for the win and sweep the series meetings of the season.

The Cats collected four runs on six hits with the Rams tallying 19 runs on 16 hits with one error.

Nate Carter and Hunter Hellums led the Bobcats' offense with two hits apiece, Zachary Johnson and Darton Davis each had a hit apiece. Johnson drove in two runs and Davis brought in one run for RBI's.

Johnson also recorded the lone team stolen base against the Rams. 

On the mound, Carter pitched two and a third innings, allowing 11 hits, 16 runs, four walks, striking out two batters and threw 55 strikes. Dylan Barton finished out the game pitching one and two-thirds innings, walking one batter, allowing five hits, three runs and threw 21 strikes.
