Senior Maegan Ward brought out her 2015 state championship MVP game performance in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally her Lady Bears back from a 6-4 deficit to hammer a three-run home run that secured a 7-6 victory against the reigning Class 2A state champions Rison in a dandy duel on the diamond over the weekend for a rematch of last year's state finals battle in Spring Hill.

Senior Maegan Ward brought out her 2015 state championship MVP game performance in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally her Lady Bears back from a 6-4 deficit to hammer a three-run home run that secured a 7-6 victory against the reigning Class 2A state champions Rison in a dandy duel on the diamond over the weekend for a rematch of last year's state finals battle in Spring Hill. 

The Lady Bears had lost the previous three match-ups against Rison since the 2017 softball season until Spring Hill got a little taste of redemption for their conference battle this year on the diamond.

The Lady Bears showcased a little play of their past championship performance to the defending state champs on Saturday to edge off a good Rison club. 

Spring Hill nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory over Rison when Ward homered on a 2-0 count, scoring three runs to step up big for the Lady Bears to overcome adversity.

Spring Hill earned the victory despite allowing Rison to score five runs in the fifth inning.

Cheyenne Bobo was the winning pitcher for Spring Hill allowing 11 hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out five batters and walking one.

Spring Hill racked up 10 hits on seven runs. Cheyenne Bobo, Ward, Katie Rivera, and Brooklyn Reed all managed multiple hits for Spring Hill in the frame. Cheyenne Bobo led Spring Hill with three hits in four at bats. Keylee Lewis also had a hit, Ward collected four RBI's, Rivera, Reed and Whitnee Lee each had an RBI apiece. Rivera and Reed each scored two runs apiece, Paige Runion, Ward and Lewis each scored a run apiece.

Reed collected two stolen bases and Jessi Park had one base stolen.

Rison won the batting battle collecting 11 hits in the game with six runs. Rison and the Lady Bears will square this Friday in Rison to conclude the series match-up on the diamond.

LADY BEARS 0, CAMDEN HARMONY GROVE 2

Continuing conference play prior to their battle against Rison, the Lady Bears were shut out at home by Camden Harmony Grove 2-0 in a grueling defensive match-up. Despite falling short of victory, the Lady Bears held Harmony Grove scoreless in five innings of play with the visitors allowed a run scored in the second and sixth innings.

Offensively, the Lady Bears collected four hits on the day with Rivera, Reed, Ward and Cheyenne Bobo all with a hit apiece for singles. Ward collected two stolen bases. In the pitcher's circle, Cheyenne Bobo pitched 4.1 innings, allowed five hits, two runs, struck out one batter and threw 41 strikes. Lewis pitched 2.2 inning, allowed one hit, no runs, walked one batter and threw 18 strikes.

The Spring Hill Lady Bears continued more softball competition on the diamond on Monday evening to prevail big against Trinity Christian Lady Warriors in a double-header in Texarkana.

The Lady Bears took care of business to post several key highlights in their victories to roll on a three-game winning streak.

This Thursday, the Lady Bears host Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans in home action for senior night in a big conference bout on the diamond for softball competition.
