The Spring Hill Lady Bears were the host team of their annual 2018 Debra McMaster Memorial Scholarship Softball Tournament hosted in Hope over the weekend. The Lady Bears battled in the Red bracket division and finished 1-2 in battles falling to Ashdown 8-3, Acorn 4-2 but prevailing over Dover 10-5.

The Lady Bears battled in the Red bracket division and finished 1-2 in battles falling to Ashdown 8-3, Acorn 4-2 but prevailing over Dover 10-5.

The Lady Bears also stepped out of tourney play to face the Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers for their regular season play schedule. The Lady Bears fell to Murfreesboro 13-3.

This week, the Lady Bears will be off from action due to spring break, but return to the diamond March 26 hosting one of the conference rivals' Foreman Lady Gators at home.

Thus far, the Lady Bears are 5-3 overall to post a plus .500 record through eight contests on the diamond under first season head coach Tyler Welch.

REGULAR SEASON GAME

LADY BEARS 3, MURFREESBORO 13

The Spring Hill Lady Bears had a tough match-up in defeat falling to the Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers 13-3 in five innings of action. Murfreesboro scored on a couple of singles in the first inning.

Murfreesboro accounted 13 runs on 13 hits and no errors.

Murfreesboro scored six runs in the fourth inning. Lady Rattlers pitcher Jarah Cox earned the win from the pitcher's circle. She lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three batters.

The Lady Bears pitcher Cheyenne Bobo brought the heat from the pitcher's circle. She allowed 13 hits and 13 runs over five innings, walking no batters and threw 71 strikes.

Spring Hill racked up five hits in the game offensively. Paige Runion and Katie Rivera each managed multiple hits for the Lady Bears. Rivera and Runion each collected two hits to lead Spring Hill.

Rivera and Runion each had two hits apiece with a double along Cheyenne Bobo collecting a double. Brooklyn Reed drove in two runs with two RBI's and Cheyenne Bobo had one RBI. Rivera scored two runs and Maegan Ward scored a run for trips across home plate.

D-MAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT 2018

LADY BEARS 3, ASHDOWN 8

In the first game of tournament play, the Spring Hill Lady Bears would fall short in victory to Class 4A Ashdown Lady Panthers, 8-3. Ashdown took the lead on a fielder's choice to score a run in the first inning.

Spring Hill tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Paige Runion, Whitnee Lee, and Jessi Park each had RBI's in the frame.

Ashdown scored three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fifth inning.

The Lady Panthers pitcher Adaysia Thompson led things off in the pitcher's circle. She surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings, striking out three batters.

Cheyenne Bobo led things from the pitcher's circle for Spring Hill. Cheyenne Bobo allowed nine hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two batters and threw 58 strikes. 

Spring Hill collected six hits in the game. Maegan Ward and Rivera each had multiple hits to lead the offense for the Lady Bears. Rivera and Ward each powered two hits apiece. Rivera had a triple with Runion collecting a double. Whitnee Lee, Park and Runion each had a RBI apiece to drive in runs. Reed, and Runion each had a hit apiece. Rivera, Reed and Ward each scored a run apiece.

Ashdown collected nine hits with eight runs scored.

LADY BEARS 10, DOVER 5

The Spring Hill Lady Bears rallied back strong from opening tourney defeat to top Dover 10-5 in their second game of D-Mac tournament competition.

Spring Hill stole the lead late in the game in a 10-5 victory over Dover. The game was tied at 5-5 with Spring Hill batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored one run for the Lady Bears.

Dover scored four runs in the third inning, but Spring Hill still managed to pull out the victory.

Spring Hill fired up the offense in the first inning with a scored one run when Brooklyn Reed singled.

Cheyenne Bobo kept the pitcher's circle in tact to earn the win. She lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out three batters and walking no one and threw 55 strikes.

Spring Hill racked up 12 hits at the plate offensively.

Katie Rivera, Lakin Bobo, Jessi Park, and Paige Runion all managed multiple hits for the Lady Bears. Rivera went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Spring Hill in hits. Runion, Ward and Lakin Bobo each had two hits apiece with Park collecting two doubles. Cheyenne Bobo, Rivera, Runion and Ward each had a double apiece. Cheyenne Bobo, Park and Reed each drove in a run for an RBI apiece. 

Runion drove in four runs with four RBI's and Ward drove in two runs for two RBI's for a team total of nine RBI's. Rivera scored three runs, Runion, Reed, Ward, Keylee Lewis and Jada Quillin each scored a run apiece and Lakin Bobo scoring two runs for trips across home plate.

Dover collected eight hits on the day.

LADY BEARS 2, ACORN 4

In the final game of tourney play, the Lady Bears suffered a heartbreaking close loss to Acorn Lady Tigers 4-2 in four innings of play.

The Lady Bears scored a run in the first and third innings of game action. The Lady Bears fell behind early wasn't able to rally for a comeback in a two-run loss to Acorn. The Lady Tigers scored on a single and a stolen base in the first inning.

Cheyenne Bobo pitched from the pitcher's circle. She went three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out two batters and walking one batter and threw 43 strikes.

Katie Rivera, Maegan Ward, and Bobo each collected a hit apiece to lead Spring Hill. Cheyenne Bobo drove in one run for an RBI. Rivera and Runion each scored a run apiece for the Lady Bears only two runs of the game. Park, Rivera and Runion each had a stolen base apiece.

Acorn totaled four runs on seven hits.
