The Hope Bobcats went into extra overdrive hosting the Hot Springs Trojans Tuesday night for conference soccer action on the Bank of the Ozarks Field at Hammons Stadium. The Bobcats battled hard, but came up short to Hot Springs in a PK shootout.

The Hope Bobcats went into extra overdrive hosting the Hot Springs Trojans Tuesday night for conference soccer action on the Bank of the Ozarks Field at Hammons Stadium. The Bobcats battled hard, but came up short to Hot Springs in a PK shootout.

The Cats competed strong with the early spark in first half play to lead Hot Springs 1-0 off a make penalty kick goal made by Johnathan Garcia. The Cats' defense held off Hot Springs for the entire 40 minutes of first half play without a goal scored.

In the second half, the Trojans tied the contest up at 1-1 down to the 31:42 (49:42) minute mark. Hope regained the lead off another penalty kick goal made by Chris Torres to lead Hot Springs 2-1 with 12 minutes left to play before the end of regulation.

Within the next minute, Hot Springs knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal scored that held through the remaining time of play to set up a penalty kick shootout. At the end of regulation, Hope and Hot Springs were tied 2-2.

In the PK shootout, Hot Springs topped Hope 4-1 resulting the Trojans defeating the Bobcats 6-3. Christian Martinez scored Hope's lone goal in the penalty kick shootout.

Tonight, the Bobcats will play host to Class 6A El Dorado Wildcats at Hammons Stadium for the nightcap in their first of two-game series meetings in league competition.

The Bobcats will return to action following spring break in their rematch duel against the Trojans March 27 looking for redemption in Spa City for conference play in Hot Springs.
