The defending Class 2A State Baseball Champions Spring Hill Bears opened their 2018 season with victories on the diamond over the weekend in tournament play hosted in Hope.

The Bears competed in the 2018 Bobcat Baseball Tournament with games played at Legion Field at Fair Park. The Bears defeated Taylor 4-3 in the first game, then shutout Bradley 5-0 and edged off host tournament team Hope 5-4 in the championship game.

On Monday night, the Bears began conference play defeating Rison 2-1 as their spark continues to progress since clinching their first state title last season.

The Bears improve to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in conference play.

Newly head coach Cameron Brown keeps an exciting task for the Bears since being the assistant coach last season under former head coach Rusty Winfield. Coach Brown anticipates the Bears to continue to be a threat in Class 2A as the defending state champs and believes his team is starting off productively in their title defense baseball season for 2018.

This week, the Bears head to Blevins for action on the road Thursday night Mar. 8, then return back home to host Dierks Outlaws on Friday Mar. 9 for back to back battles on the diamond.
