Two-Time State Champions Arkansas Silverbacks, an area Semi-Pro football team in the Arkansas Sports Association will be kicking off their 2018 season.

The Arkansas Silverbacks have won back-to-back ASA State Championships in 2015 and 2016 during Semi-Pro league football. They've been established since 2003 and have built their program to be a true playoff contender team over the years.

Hometown native and former Hope Bobcat Patrick Patterson, a 1996 Hope High School graduate is owner and head coach of the Arkansas Silverbacks. Patterson is very excited about the team and the opportunity for the Hope community to witness the Silverbacks in action this season on the Bank of the Ozarks Field at Hammons Stadium for season 2018.

In past years, the Silverbacks have performed games at the Hope Soccer Field Complex and now they'll have the chance to battle at Hammons Stadium for a professional-like football atmosphere.

The Silverbacks will be competing in the TUFL Texas United Football League according to Patterson.

They're first game is scheduled for this Saturday March 3 in Paris, Texas and the Silverbacks debut home-opener is March 24 with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Hammons Stadium.

Patterson said several area talented players will be participating on the Silverbacks roster for season 2018. Featured area players consist of - Javon Westmoreland, Demario Woods, Kyle Reardon, Dmarcus Hamilton, Dylan Watson, Teddy Freeman, Tyrone Lacy, Mario Cheatham, Derrick Patterson, Ledonavon Patterson, Desmond McDonald, Jamario Love, Keith Brown Sr., Luis Arroyo and many more.

Westmoreland, led the defense for the previous two seasons in sacks as one of the top players in the league. Westmoreland had an impressive high school football career for the Hope Bobcats as a All-State player, finalist for the Offensive Player of the Year Finalist by Hooten's Arkansas Football Farm Bureau Awards with helping Hope capture the 2013 5A South Conference title during his senior season.

The team has played 11 games with five home and six away scheduled season games in past seasons. Patterson looks for the Silverbacks to be a contender for the playoffs and a successful year for 2018.
