The 2A South Regional Tournament will tip-off this week in Poyen and Hempstead County hoop teams Spring Hill Lady Bears and the Blevins Hornets and Lady Hornets will all be competing on the hardwood at regionals for another chance to qualify to compete at the Class 2A State Tournament.

Tonight, the reigning 2A South Regional Girls Tournament Champs No. 1 seed Lady Bears will face their rivals' No. 4 seed Blevins Lady Hornets in the first round at regionals. This season, the Lady Bears and the Lady Hornets have faced off three times on the hardwood with Spring Hill winning the first two meetings and Blevins taking the third meeting in tournament play hosted at Bradley.

This will be a rematch of the girls regional championship game last year which the Lady Bears defeated Blevins hosted in Magnet Cove. Both teams have had a good season thus far with them winning over 20 games this year. Unfortunately, there will only be one team of the two going to state this season and their first round game will be a brawl to see which teams survives to go forward for advancement and one team's season ending.

The Hornets will tip-off for the boys regional tournament on Thursday night Feb. 22 facing No. 3 seed Camden Harmony Grove at 8:30 p.m. Last year, the Hornets finished third at regionals, but went onto compete at state and look to return back for 2018.

Regionals is scheduled Feb. 21-24.
