The Lady Hornets would split wins on the road in conference play dominating Cutter Morning Star Lady Eagles, but falling to a good Poyen Lady Indians and Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers teams in hoops.

On this past Tuesday night, the Lady Hornets returned home from battling on the road in their previous long stretch of games to provide the home town Hornet hoop fans an impressive dominating win over Magnet Cove Lady Panthers 66-37 to post victory in conference competition.

This Thursday night, the Lady Hornets return home to host Caddo Hills for a make up game, then Friday night take their winning momentum on the road for conference play at Mountain Pine for senior high girls hoops.

 

LADY HORNETS 66, MAGNET COVE 37

The Lady Hornets starting five hoopsters Jasmine Batson, Diana Samuel, Amani Furlow, Bailey Hall and Camri Kirkham all posted in double-figures to lead Blevins in victory for a high scoring display to secure the 29 point win to remain with only home defeat this entire season.

 

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a sparking 9-3 advantage down to the 5:14 mark in the first quarter. The Lady Panthers surprisingly cut their deficit to trail Blevins by a point 13-12 down to the 2:20 mark, but the Lady Hornets regrouped and maintain the spark to end first period play leading Magnet Cove, 20-12.

 

In the second quarter, the Lady Hornets had to keep battling to maintain their lead as Magnet Cove continued stay within striking distance to trail Blevins 26-23 down to the 4:16 mark. The Lady Hornets would go on a scoring spree to take their first double-digit lead of the game at the 1:00 mark 35-25. Magnet Cove cut their deficit under double-digits by connecting on a pair of free-throws with 14.5 seconds to play in first half. At the break, the Lady Hornets took a 35-27 lead over Magnet Cove at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Hornets put the game away by pouring 18 points scored in the third quarter and dropping 13 points in the fourth quarter. Magnet Cove was held to 10 points scored the entire second half as the Lady Hornets keyed on their defense to soar them victory to end a two-game losing skid.

 

For the game, Batson led the way with 16 points, Samuel and Kirkham each had 13 points apiece, Furlow dropped 11 points and Hall finished with 10 points for a impressive five double-figure scoring display. Alyssa Richardson contributed two key points and Casia Morrison chipped in one point to complete scoring department.

 

LADY HORNETS 57, CMS 23

The Lady Hornets won big on the road against Cutter Morning Star Lady Eagles 57-32 for conference action. For the game, Batson led scoring with a huge 21 points, Furlow followed with 15 points and Samuel dropped 10 points for double-figures. Bailey Hall finished with five points, Kirkham had four points and Morrison contributed two points.

The Lady Hornets had a tough match-up on the road for conference play falling to a good Poyen Lady Indians team 67-56. For the game, Lady Hornets' Batson finished with another dynamic and impressive overall performance displayed to pour 30 points to lead the scoring department and Kirkham dropped 15 points for double-figures. Furlow scored five points, Samuel had four points and Bailey Hall finished with two points.

 

LADY HORNETS 44, MURFREESBORO 54

Looking to close out their series meeting with the sweep, the Lady Hornets fell short on the road to Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers 54-44 for a tough 10 point loss for the season meeting split at 1-1. For the game, Lady Hornets' Furlow led the team scoring contribution with a big 21 points and Batson added 12 points for double-figures. Bailey Hall came in with a strong eight points and Samuel finished with three points.
