Blevins Jr. Lady Hornets returned to the hardwood for home conference hoops hosting Magnet Cove on Tuesday night at the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium. The Jr. Lady Hornets coasted to an early lead to finish first period play, but the Jr. Lady Panthers built momentum to outscore Blevins in the last three quarters of action and prevailed 49-32 against Blevins.
In the first quarter play, the Jr. Lady Hornets soared to the 11-9 lead advantage to end opening period action. In the second, the Jr. Lady Panthers went on a run to start quarter action and took the lead for good at the 5:17 mark 14-11 and swished three trey's from behind the arc for their next points on the scoreboard.
The Jr. Lady Hornets were held to six points scored in the period with Magnet Cove soaring to 21 points to take 30-17 halftime lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Jr. Lady Hornets created a rally to cut their deficit and trailed 33-26 at the end of third quarter action. In the fourth period, the Jr. Lady Hornets only sparked for six points scored with the Jr. Lady Panthers dropping 13 points to secured the 16 point road victory against Blevins.
For the game, Jr. Lady Hornets' Emily Dougan and Daisy Smith led scoring with 11 point apiece for double-figures. Isabella Jones scored four points, Caitlin Smith added three points, Summer Fulton had two points and Allison Bonner finished with one point.
This Thursday night, the Jr. Lady Hornets return home to host Caddo Hills for a make up game, then Friday night travel to Mountain Pine for conference hoops to take on the Jr. Lady Red Devils for junior high basketball competition.
