Yerger Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team returned to home hoop action Monday night facing off against the Hot Springs Lakeside Jr. Rams at Jones Field House Gymnasium.

Yerger Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team returned to home hoop action Monday night facing off against the Hot Springs Lakeside Jr. Rams at Jones Field House Gymnasium. YMS trailed early with a 12-5 deficit at the end of first quarter, but rallied back to cut the Jr. Rams lead to three points at halftime, 19-16 with Lakeside leading at the break.

In the second half, YMS was held to four points scored in the third quarter with Lakeside posting 12 points on the scoreboard in the third take a 31-20 lead over Hope going into the fourth period. In the fourth, YMS scored in double-digits, but Lakeside outscored Hope 16-10 with the Jr. Rams going onto victory 47-30. For the game, Ammorrion Dempsey led scoring with 11 points for double-figures. Erik Haynie followed with eight points, Tyzhan Jones finished with seven points and Kaden Henderson had two points.

HOPE VS. CAMDEN-FAIRVIEW

On the road last Thursday night in Camden, YMS came out victorious against Camden-Fairview Jr. Cardinals 48-29. Davian Durden led scoring with 17 points and Dempsey dropped 12 points for double-digits. Jones followed with nine points, Ladarius Allen added six points and Haynie finished with four points.

8TH GRADE TOURNAMENT

In tournament play in Camden over the weekend, YMS came up short of victory against host tourney team Camden-Fairview Jr. Cardinals 23-21 with Dempsey leading the scoring department with eight points, Durden had six points, Triston Burton scored three points and Justin Armstrong had two points. In the second game of tourney play, YMS fell to Magnolia 49-14. Haynie led scoring with five points, Montavius Eason and Durden each scored four points apiece and Marquavios Monk had one point.

 

This Thursday night, YMS hoopsters return to the hardwood for eighth grade hoops on the road to battle Magnolia for junior high basketball competition.
