Seniors' Morgan Hooker, Rayleigh Hart, Clarissa Bailey and Melissa Bailey were the featured hoopsters of the night looking for a key win, but unfortunately the Lady Crusaders prevailed 43-37 in a close encounter.

Lady Saints' Anna Kate Childress with senior Clarissa Bailey had the strong scoring performances of the night to account in double-digits with a productive team effort of senior point guard Hooker, Whitley Richards, Melssia Bailey, Rayleigh Hart, Becca Still, Ashlynn Hart and Raley Sullivan providing multiple minutes and time during action.

In first quarter action, the Lady Saints and the Lady Crusaders matched each other and ended opening period knotted 10-10. Hooker, Childress with the twin sister connection of Clarissa and Melissa Bailey all accounted baskets from the field for scoring against Columbia Christian.

In the second quarter, Richards split at the foul line and added a bucket with Hooker posting a basket and Childress launching an impressive trifecta from downtown behind the arc with a basket allowed the Lady Saints to end first half play leading Columbia Christian, 20-16 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Childress and Clarissa Bailey each provided all the scoring for the Lady Saints with Childress swishing a second 3-pointer of the game, but the Lady Crusader outscored GMCS 16-9 in the quarter. At the end of third, the Lady Saints trailed Columbia Christian, 32-29.

In the final quarter of the game, the Lady Saints fought hard to stay within striking distance but Columbia Christian won the scoring period 11-8 and went onto escape with the five point victory over GMCS. Rayleigh Hart and Ashlynn Hart each split a pair of free-throws, Clarissa Bailey, Richards and Hooker each scored a basket apiece in the finale period of game action.

For the game, Lady Saints' Childress led scoring with 12 points and Clarissa Bailey had 10 points for a duo of double-figures. Hooker posted a strong eight points, Richards added three points, Melissa Bailey had two points and Rayleigh Hart and Ashlynn Hart each chipped in a point apiece.

The Lady Saints look to regroup in their return to the hardwood for more varsity hoops and look toward a strong run in tourney competition in February at district and state tournaments.
