Hope ninth grade boys hoopsters had two tough road battles in their previous play on the hardwood for junior high hoops competition. On Monday night, Hope came up short to Malvern Jr. Leopards 43-38 and on last Thursday night falling to Texarkana 44-28.

Hope ninth grade boys hoopsters had two tough road battles in their previous play on the hardwood for junior high hoops competition. On Monday night, Hope came up short to Malvern Jr. Leopards 43-38 and on last Thursday night falling to Texarkana 44-28.

This Thursday night, Hope looks to regroup as they'll continue on the road for junior high boys basketball action at Camden-Fairview.

HOPE 38, MALVERN 43

Hope had only a one point deficit to Malvern at halftime, 21-20 but in the second half the Jr. Leopards outscored visiting Hope 22-18 for third and fourth quarters combine. Malvern would escape with the five point win, 43-38. For the game, Hope's Corey Lewis led scoring with 12 points and Travion Rhodes followed with 10 points for double-figures. Zykeis Raglon added seven points, Tevin Hayden posted four points and Jatario Lewis chipped in five points.

 

HOPE 28, TEXARKANA 44

Hope kept their contest close in the first quarter to Texarkana to trail 8-7 at the end of opening period play. In the second, Texarkana outscored Hope 11-4. At the break, Hope trailed Texarkana, 19-11. In the second half, Texarkana sparked and outscored Hope 25-17 for third and fourth quarters totaled with Texarkana rolling to an 16 point double-digit win in their season series finale. For the game, Rhodes and Cory Lewis led scoring with 12 points apiece for double-figures, Jatario Lewis and Caden Brown each contributed two points apiece.
