After securing wins in their previous four games, Yerger Middle School eighth grade girls hoop squad suffered their first loss of the new year falling to Camden-Fairview Jr. Lady Cardinals 24-21 Hope's first home game of the 2017-18 basketball season this past Monday night at Jones Field House Gymnasium.

After securing wins in their previous four games, Yerger Middle School eighth grade girls hoop squad suffered their first loss of the new year falling to Camden-Fairview Jr. Lady Cardinals 24-21 Hope's first home game of the 2017-18 basketball season this past Monday night at Jones Field House Gymnasium.

YMS had the early advantage in first half action to lead CF 6-3 at the end of first quarter play, then 13-10 at the break going into the locker room. In the second half, the Jr. Lady Cardinals came out with the spark to outscore Hope 7-2 in the third quarter that showcased CF leading Hope 17-15.

In the fourth, YMS fought their way back to score six points, but the Jr. Lady Cardinals added seven to the scoreboard and escaped victorious for the three point win and ended YMS four game-winning streak.

For the game, Aniya Trotter led scoring in double-figures with 13 points for YMS. Alexia Muldrew, Ta'lay'shia White, Alana Flenory and Da'sheunna Purifory each contributed two points apiece.

YMS eighth grade girls hoopsters look to regroup from their tough loss and be ready for competition on next Thursday Jan. 18 for home action hosting Texarkana at Jones Field House Gymnasium.
