Blevins Lady Hornets and Jr. Lady Hornets secured impressive dominant victories against Foreman on the hardwood for junior and senior high girls basketball action.

Blevins Lady Hornets and Jr. Lady Hornets secured impressive dominant victories against Foreman on the hardwood for junior and senior high girls basketball action.

The Lady Hornets would sweep the series meeting to begin conference play at 1-0 and improve to 15-5 overall. The Jr. Lady Hornets won their battle against Foreman on the road in their only regular season meeting in junior high girls basketball action.

 For Friday night, the Lady Hornets travel on the road to conclude their series match-up against Mineral Springs. Then on this Saturday, the Lady Hornets will enter into tournament competition at Bradley as the defending Southwest Arkansas Shootout Champions from winning the tournament last year. Bradley tournament is scheduled Jan.13-20.

FIRST MEETING VS. FOREMAN

The Jr. Lady Hornets rolled to an 31-11 victory over the Jr. Lady Gators in Foreman. Blevins took an 17-2 halftime advantage, then outscored Foreman 14-9 in the second half for the impressive 20 point win on the road. For the game, Daisy Smith led scoring with 15 points and Emily Dougan had 11 points for double-figures. Isabella Jones contributed three points and Summer Fulton chipped in two points.

In senior high girls hoops, the Lady Hornets stormed to a 20 point victory over Foreman Lady Gators in Foreman, 54-34. The Lady Hornets had to fight early against the Lady Gators with Blevins taking a slim three point advantage at the end of first quarter action 16-13. In the second, the Lady Hornets outscored Foreman 11-10. At halftime, Blevins took an 27-23 lead into the locker room over Foreman.

In the second half, Blevins stepped it up a level on both ends of the court and outscored Foreman 27-11 for third and fourth quarters combined. Foreman was held to one point scored in the fourth due to the Lady Hornets' defense. For the game, Lady Hornets' Jasmine Batson led scoring with a strong 19 points Amani Furlow dropped 14 points and Bailey Hall scored 11 points for double-figures. Diana Samuel added eight points and Camri Kirkham finished with two points.

 

SECOND MEETING VS. FOREMAN

The Lady Hornets welcomed the Foreman Lady Gators to the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium on this past Tuesday night for conference play and to end their series season meeting in senior high hoops. The Lady Hornets showed no mercy in their attack and topped the visiting Lady Gators 68-43 to sweep their season series match-up. The Lady Hornets surged to an 42-25 halftime advantage over Foreman. In the second half, the Lady Hornets finished the game posting 27 points with Foreman dropping 18 points for third and fourth quarters combine.

For the game, Lady Hornets' pure shooter Amani Furlow led scoring with an impressive 26 points and drained three trifecta's from behind the arc. Furlow also went perfect from the free-throw line shooting 5-for-5 for 100 percent. Kirkham followed with a strong performance with 17 points and Batson posted 16 points for double-figures. Samuel added six points and Bailey Hall contributed three points. The Lady Hornets shot 13-for-14 at the free-throw line for 92 percent.
