Hope ninth grade girls junior high basketball team recently had two tough road battles on the hardwood in previous action to finish the first half of the 2017-18 season before heading into the Christmas holiday break.

Hope ninth grade girls junior high basketball team recently had two tough road battles on the hardwood in previous action to finish the first half of the 2017-18 season before heading into the Christmas holiday break.

Last Thursday night, Hope traveled to Spa City to face the Hot Springs Jr. Lady Trojans for ninth grade girls basketball action. Hope battled competitively, but fell to a tough Jr. Lady Trojans' squad 40-15. For the game, Mariuna McClenton led scoring with seven points and DaNya Muldrow added six points.

On this past Monday night, Hope traveled to Arkadelphia to concluded their two game season series match-up on the hardwood. Hope showcased a more productive performance early to hang close, but Arkadelphia maintained the edge for first half play. At halftime, Arkadelphia led Hope, 26-13.

In the second half, Hope totaled for 12 points scored on the board, but the Arkadelphia Freshman Lady Badgers dropped 22 points on their side of the scoreboard for third and fourth quarters combine to defeat visiting Hope, 48-25 for the final score. Arkadelphia would sweep the season series meeting against Hope in ninth grade girls hoops competition.

For the game, Hope's McClenton led scoring with eight points, Muldrow followed with five points, Trotter had three points, Muldrew scored four points, Ashanti Railey and Nia'kerra Magee finished with two points apiece.

Hope ninth grade hoopsters will be set to return to junior high girls basketball action January 4, 2018 on the road at De Queen following the Christmas holiday break.
