The Spring Hill Bears secured a big home victory in the nightcap game last Friday night at home over the visiting Murfreesboro Rattlers 58-45 at Spring Hill Gymnasium.

The Spring Hill Bears secured a big home victory in the nightcap game last Friday night at home over the visiting Murfreesboro Rattlers 58-45 at Spring Hill Gymnasium.

The Bears got rolling early in first quarter action off Payton Massanelli scoring the game's first basket to give the home team Spring Hill the lead 2-0 at the 7:12 mark. From there after the Rattlers answered to tie the game 2-2, then took a 6-2 advantage for the lead. Kaleb Blair and Bradey Powell each made three-point plays with connecting on their free-throw helped the Bears regain the lead 9-6 at the 2:25 mark.

Cam Middleton, Blair and Massanelli each scored the Bears last three buckets of the quarter with the Rattlers managing a trey at the 1:40 mark displayed the scoring for both teams in the final two minutes of play. At the end of first quarter action, the Bears led Murfreesboro, 15-9.

In the second, the Bears came out with hot shooting with Middleton draining a three-pointer pointer at the start of the quarter. Then, Hays Martin swished two trey's from behind the arc that extend the Bears lead to 26-9. The Bears would score 17 points in the second with the Rattlers dropping 11 points in the quarter, but at the break Spring Hill led Murfreesboro 32-20.

In the third quarter, the Bears sparked for 10 points scored in the period, but the Rattlers accounted 13 points on the board. At the end of three quarters of action, the Bears maintained a 42-33 lead over the Rattlers going into the fourth and final period of the game.

In the fourth, the Bears finished off the Rattlers with Spring Hill pouring 16 points on the board and Murfreesboro posting a double-digit scoring quarter with 12 points. Massanelli and Middleton provided the scoring for the Bears in the fourth quarter that secured them the 13 point home win.

For the game, Middleton led scoring with 17 points, Massanelli had 16 points and Martin finished with 10 points for double-figures. Powell had six points, Blair contributed five points, Dawson Calhoun and Wesley Featherston each finished with two points apiece.

This week, the Bears have scheduled road games against Trinity Christian and Mineral Springs.
