The Blevins Hornets and Jr. Hornets came away with two key road victories over the weekend against Cossatot River Eagles for senior and junior high boys basketball action.

The Blevins Hornets and Jr. Hornets came away with two key road victories over the weekend against Cossatot River Eagles for senior and junior high boys basketball action.

In junior high boys action, Jr. Hornets' David Franks exploded once again for a big scoring night to lead Blevins in victory with an impressive 32 points. The Jr. Hornets topped Cossatot River Jr. Eagles 48-37. For the game, Robert Carrigan posted 12 points for double-digits with Franks. Jonah Graham and Nathan Foster each contributed two points in their key win.

In senior high boys action, the Hornets rolled big for a 76-51 road victory against the Cossatot River Eagles. The Hornets were led in scoring by big man Zane Kirkham dropping another 30 plus point performance with 31 points to post consecutive games accounting over 30 points.

The Hornets sparked early for first quarter action to outscore the Eagles to lead 16-7 at the end of opening period action. In the second, the Hornets poured 23 points on the scoreboard and held the Eagles defensively to eight points under double-digits. At the break, the Hornets headed into the locker room lead Cossatot River 39-15.

In the second half, the Hornets posted another big scoring period in the third quarter to drop 22 points but the Eagles sparked for 20 points. At the end of three periods, the Hornets held an 61-35 advantage over Cossatot River.

In the fourth, the Hornets finished out the match-up scoring 15 points and the Eagles accounting 16 points, but Blevins rolling out to an 25 point win and sweeping their season series meeting against the Eagles.

For the game, Hornets' Deandre Burton dropped 12 points and Cameron Lane posting 11 points for double-figures with Kirkham. Monterian Todd finished with nine points, Kobe Steed scored six points, Dylan Fulton and Ernan Gomez each added four points apiece and Kaleb Tolliver contributed two points.

The win, put the Hornets winning their seventh consecutive game for an 11-2 overall record.

This week, the Hornets enter into tournament competition hosted at Kirby with Blevins facing Caddo Hills on Thursday Dec. 7 at 5:45 p.m. The tournament is scheduled Dec. 2-9 with the finals on Saturday Dec. 9 beginning at 6 p.m. with the girls championship followed by the boys title game at 7:30 p.m. in Kirby.

For non-conference action, the Hornets face off against Mineral Springs at home and Trinity Christian this week.
