Hope ninth grade girls basketball team continues to compete hard thus far into the 2017-18 season of hoops. In road battles, Hope fell to Texarkana 31-18 and to Hot Springs Lakeside on this past Monday night Nov. 27 in their return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday break.

Hope ninth grade girls basketball team continues to compete hard thus far into the 2017-18 season of hoops. In road battles, Hope fell to Texarkana 31-18 and to Hot Springs Lakeside on this past Monday night Nov. 27 in their return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday break.

In previous home action, Hope hosted Ashdown Jr. Lady Panthers on Monday night Nov. 20 over the Thanksgiving break in junior high girls basketball competition at Jones Field House Gymnasium. Hope competed fierce, but the Jr. Lady Panthers prevailed 40-19.

On Monday Dec. 4, Hope ninth grade girls will travel to Magnolia for junior high hoops with the eighth grade in their first of two game season series meeting for their next encounter on the hardwood. Tip-off set for 5 p.m., beginning with eighth grade girls action, followed by the ninth grade battle for the nightcap in Magnolia.

 

HOPE 18, TEXARKANA 31

Hope looked into a tough battle early with a 15-5 deficit to Texarkana at halftime for first half action. In the second half, Hope dropped 13 points but Texarkana poured 17 points on the scoreboard for third and fourth quarter scoring. For the game, Ashanti Railey led scoring with 10 points for double-figures. Ashanti Phillips scored four points, Ashanti Bennett and Anntaevia Briggs each finished with two points apiece.

 

HOPE 19, ASHDOWN 40

Hope stayed close in first quarter action with only a five point deficit to Ashdown 13-8 going into the second period. Ashdown outscored Hope 14-8 in the second and at halftime, the Jr. Lady Panthers led Hope 27-16. In the second half, Ashdown outscored Hope 13-3 with the Jr. Lady Panthers rolling onto victory. For the game, Hope's Aniya Trotter led scoring with six points, Railey and Alexia Muldrew each scored five points apiece and Magee added two points.
