Hope ninth grade boys basketball team recently suffered two key losses in close battles against the Ashdown Jr. Panthers 36-35 at home and Hot Springs Lakeside Jr. Rams 49-45 on the road for junior high hoop action.

Hope ninth grade hoopsters will return to junior high hoops on Monday Dec. 4 hosting Magnolia at Jones Field House Gymnasium. Tip-off set at 5 p.m., beginning with eighth grade boys play, followed by ninth grade action for the nightcap at JFH Gymnasium.

 

HOPE 35, ASHDOWN 36

During the Thanksgiving holiday break, the Hope hosted Ashdown at home on Monday Nov. 20 at Jones Field House Gymnasium. Hope had a two point deficit at halftime to Ashdown 18-16 for first half action. In the second half, Hope outscored Ashdown 19-18, but the Jr. Panthers secured the one point victory to hand the Jr. Cats their first loss of the season and at home. For the game, Zykeis Raglon led scoring with 15 points and Tevin Hayden followed with 10 points for double-figures. Travion Rhodes and Jatario Lewis each contributed four points apiece.

 

HOPE 45, LAKESIDE 49

In their return to hoop competition after the Thanksgiving holiday break, Hope ninth grade hoopsters battled in their first road game of the season on Monday night falling to Hot Springs Lakeside Jr. Rams in another close encounter on the hardwood for junior high basketball action. Hope and Lakeside were knotted 26-26 at halftime, but the Jr. Rams outscored visiting Hope 23-19 in the second half to pull off the four point victory. For the game, Hope's Rhodes led scoring with 12 points and Hayden posted 11 points for double-figures. Cory Lewis followed with nine points, Jatario Lewis scored five points, Raglon added four points, Ryan Walker and Donovan Manning each finished with two points apiece.
