The Blevins Jr. Lady Hornets came out victorious Monday night in first round tourney competition against Texarkana 37-24 to advance to the second round in the 49th Annual Paul Noesser Jr. High Tournament hosted at the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium in Blevins.

The Blevins Jr. Lady Hornets came out victorious Monday night in first round tourney competition against Texarkana 37-24 to advance to the second round in the 49th Annual Paul Noesser Jr. High Tournament hosted at the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium in Blevins.

The Jr. Lady Hornets jumped out to a quick start to finish opening quarter play 10-4 over Texarkana. In the second, the Jr. Lady Hornets dropped 14 points and held Texarkana under double-figures with nine points scored. At the break, Blevins led Texarkana 24-13.

In the second half, the Jr. Lady Hornets maintained an 10 point advantage to end third quarter play 28-18 and in the fourth and final quarter of the night, Blevins pulled away for nine points holding Texarkana to six points scored. The Jr. Lady Hornets secured the 13 point victory for an impressive first round home win in their advancement as the host tourney team.

For the game, Jr. Lady Hornets' Emily Dougan had a big night to lead all scorers with 18 point as the lone player in double-figures. Alyssan Bonner finished with nine points, Isabella Jones and Daisy Smith each added five points apiece.

Wednesday Nov.29, the Jr. Lady Hornets will return to tourney action in the second round facing Caddo Hills at 7 p.m. in Blevins.
