The Hope ninth grade junior high boys basketball team showcased another productive performance on the hardwood in their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday break to defeat Texarkana 39-29 in home action last Thursday night at Jones Field House Gymnasium.

The Hope ninth grade junior high boys basketball team showcased another productive performance on the hardwood in their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday break to defeat Texarkana 39-29 in home action last Thursday night at Jones Field House Gymnasium. Hope's victory secures them to a 2-0 unbeaten season start on the hardwood for ninth grade junior high hoops for 2017-18.

In first quarter action, Hope outscored Texarkana 10-5 with scoring production from Jatario Lewis, Tevin Hayden and Travion Rhodes.

In the second quarter, Hope extended their lead to an 19-7 advantage down to the 3:44 mark. A key three-point play by Zykeis Raglon increase the margin to 22-7 at the 3:13 mark. Cory Lewis followed up draining a trifecta from behind the arc and Rhodes made a pair of free-throws down to under a minute remaining in the half for Hope scoring in the second. Texarkana was held to six points scored as Hope end first half play leading 26-11 at the break.

In the second half, Hope dropped six points scored in the third quarter and added seven points in the fourth with Texarkana totaling for 18 points combine for both periods, but Hope held onto the double-digit win to remain undefeated thus far on the hardwood.

For the game, Rhodes led scoring with nine points, Hayden followed with eight points, Raglon and Lewis each added seven points apiece for a balanced effort of scorers despite no double-figures that led to a double-digit win.

Hope ninth grade boys basketball team returns to the hardwood Monday Nov. 27 for their first road game of the season at Hot Springs Lakeside against the Jr. Rams for junior high hoops.
