The Blevins Hornets and Jr. Hornets pulled off big key non-conference wins against Taylor for senior and junior high basketball action last week at Bradley High School Gymnasium in Bradley.

The Blevins Hornets and Jr. Hornets pulled off big key non-conference wins against Taylor for senior and junior high basketball action last week at Bradley High School Gymnasium in Bradley.

The Jr. Hornets rolled big for an 42-15 win over the Taylor Jr. Tigers. For the game, Jr. Hornets' David Franks led scoring with a impressive 22 points and Jonah Graham followed with 11 points for double-figures. Nathan Foster contributed four points, Cannan Hudman added three points and Robert Carrigan finished with two points.

In senior high action, the Hornets came out victorious led by a productive first quarter spark to outscore Taylor 21-15 at the end of opening period action. In the second, the Hornets dropped 21 points on the scoreboard despite a balanced scoring quarter for Taylor with 17 points. At the break, the Hornets led Taylor 41-32. In the third quarter, the Hornets posted 11 points and defensively held the Tigers under double-digits with five scored in the third. At the end of three periods of action, the Hornets held a 52-37 advantage over Taylor heading into the final quarter of the night.

In the fourth, the Hornets put the game away posting another double-digit scoring quarter with 14 points and Taylor held once again under 10 points scored with nine added on the scoreboard with Blevins marching onto the 10 point win and improving to 6-2 overall.

For the game, Hornets' Deandre Burton led scoring with a productive 19 points and big man Zane Kirkham dropped 16 points for double-figures. Dylan Fulton and Cameron Lane each scored eight points, Monterian Todd had seven points, Ernan Gomez had five points and Corta Young finished with three points.

The Hornets and Jr. Hornets will return to home action tonight hosting Trinity Christian, then on Thursday night play host to Dierks at the Imon G. Brown Gymnasium.
