The Spring Hill Bears come into week 8 of high school football action with two consecutive losses and look to end their two game-losing streak tonight against a winless Murfreesboro Rattlers team at Bear Stadium for 7-2A Conference play.

Spring Hill football head coach Matt McBride wasn't pleased by the overall performance the Bears displayed on the road in their tough loss to Mt. Pine last week.

McBride felt the Bears needed to go back to the basics and show more aggression and be physical in their performance in order to be one of the top five teams from the conference to make the playoffs.

This week, McBride said the Bears had a tough practice and work very hard on a lot of fundamentals similar to summer workouts. McBride knows the Rattlers are coming to win and feels the Bears need to take this game as a must win situation to stay alive for postseason action in November.

"It's a game in order to stay alive for the playoffs. Murfreesboro hadn't won a game and look like a team that can compete. They move the ball with a talented kid at quarterback and block well on the perimeter. Defensively they have gave up some points, but got offensive weapons we have to respect," McBride said.

"We just got to play better and do what we do and be better at it. We got after it on Monday in practice and focused on just being more physical," McBride said.

The Bears showed a lot of determination with a strong will to win from their comeback victory against Lafayette County three weeks ago in their last win for conference at home. McBride wants the Bears to have and show that same mentality tonight in their battle against the Rattlers as they've had a history background of tough battles in past seasons. The Rattlers defeated the Bears last season and was predicted to finish the conference season fifth voted by league coaches. The Rattlers have posted points on the scoreboard with two 40 point games scored in losses to Lafayette County 62-40 and Mt. Pine 61-40, but coming off a shutout loss to Mineral Springs last week 47-0.

McBride feels the Bears will be back in high gear ready to compete and bring a forceful of aggression to be hungry to win in their return back home in conference play.

Kickoff set at 7 p.m., at Bear Stadium.
